Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to launch a series of strategic transportation and waterway infrastructure projects during the April 30th and May 1st holidays in 2026. The focus of this launch is three mega-port projects with record-breaking total investment, marking a new phase of development for the megacity’s port system after its administrative boundary expansion.

This information was confirmed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction at a press conference on the socio -economic situation held on the afternoon of April 2nd. The acceleration of key infrastructure projects is considered a crucial driving force for maintaining the city’s growth rate in the new phase.

Most notably, the Can Gio International Transshipment Port mega-project in Ho Chi Minh City stands out. Spanning approximately 7km and with an investment of 128,000 billion VND for phase 1, this iconic infrastructure project is expected to transform the city into a crucial link in the global maritime supply chain.
Besides the port sector, Ho Chi Minh City will also hold inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies for several urban transportation projects. These include the completion of the N3 bridge branch of the An Phu intersection project and the construction of Tan Chanh Hiep Park in Tan Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. These projects are expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve living spaces for residents in the northern part of the city.
Strong investment in seaports such as Cai Mep Ha and Can Gio will not only consolidate its leading position nationwide but also enable Ho Chi Minh City to compete directly with maritime hubs in Southeast Asia.
